4 October 2004
First off, a belated Happy Third Gotcha Day to my Lizard Girly. I love you, my precious old gal. Can't wait for number four...which will come after we celebrate birthday number FIFTEEN!!!

Weekend one of the Carolina Renaissance Festival is done.

Hunk went the first day. We got off on a bit of a shaky start...I was helping Joanne get everything set up, and had started off with Hunk tethered to a tent pole. He was fussy, so I untethered him to move him to a different spot and he settled ON HIS OWN on a dog bed and so I left him alone. JD was dozing similarly on the other bed as we set up. Sharon, Kristin, and Ashley arrived with Francesca, Canasta, and Bubba. Kristin and Ashley went to walk Francesca and Canasta, and my little Don Juan followed right along behind them WITHOUT ME SEEING HIM. Joanne asked where he was and my heart stopped. She and flew through the gate after the girls who said Hunk had just run past him. The smart little fella was heading for the gate by where we were two years ago, and someone caught him. I wanted to simultaneously kill him and pick him up and hug him.

He did a great job though. Hunky never gets tired of cleaning of kids' faces. He is such a beautiful boy, and was the oldest there at age eight. Although the only trick he can really do is sit, his expression when he hears something stops my heart. :) Here he is with Francesca, sharing a blankie...look at those ears!

Profile went with me on Sunday, and was his usual charming self. He sat, did downs, grinned, and was generally silly. He chased the lure that Joanne swung around like he didn't feel a ONE of his 9 years. He's beautiful and smart and I'm so proud of him.

I love doing the festival. We're going to camp out this weekend, so that should be interesting. Me and Hunk and Jeany in the back of the Element...God Help Me...
